New jewelry

A dear friend of mine always wants jewelry and never receives any.  Since her birthday is coming up, I thought I would take the time and make her some.  Here goes...

I sure hope she enjoys wearing them as much as I did making them.

I bought some beads and made these, I will be starting an Etsy account soon.

At the beginning of the year, some friends and I decided to do a pay-it-forward and make handmade items for 5 people.  Here is what I came up with.

These are things I have made for myself and my daughters.  The bracelet is made for myself out of several old jewelry items that I would not wear again (several from my childhood, lockets, class ring, old earrings, necklace charms, etc.)  It is my life story of jewelry in one bracelet!!

Baking Soda Air Freshener

Take a jar, punch several holes in the lid.  Fill 1/3 - 2/3 of jar with baking soda.  Add 40 - 60 drops essential oil of your choice.  Shake.  Then you can shake whenever the room needs a little freshened.  Cheap and easy to replace.

Gelatin Air Fresheners

Do to our epileptic dog, we can not have lit candles in the house.  So I found a home-made alternative!!

Take unflavored (plain) gelatin mix.  Boil enough water to prepare (all water listed, no need to add the cold water).  Add 1 Tablespoon salt (to prevent molding) to 4 cups boiling water.  Add gelatin powder.  Stir until dissolved.  In glass bowls or votive, add 2-3 drops food coloring.  Pour in gelatin mixture.  Add 20-30 drops of essential oils of your choice to each container.  Refrigerate until set.

30 Days of Creativity...cancelled

We have gotten some bad news and have a family emergency where we need to head to Michigan sooner than anticipated.  I will start crafting again after we get settled back in at home.  I have a week to have a birthday party, pack my family of 4, pack for the dog, prep the house for our house-sitter for two weeks, plan for the frog for the time after the first two weeks, and make sure we have enough cat supplies for a month.

My husband is close to useless when it comes to getting things ready for a trip (he does all the driving and works up until we leave, I just can not leave the packing and prepping to him)...that reminds me, I have to get the car aligned this week too.  Plus, put a hold on our mail.  And RE-plan our school schedule as we were supposed to start on the 5th of July.

As you can see, there is not enough time to do what I need to get done, and crafting must be put on hold for a while.

My supplies; plain flip-flops, neon buttons, and tacky glue (I didn't use the neon puff paint...well tried but was shaking too much).

I squeezed tacky glue across the band of the flip-flops...

Then added the buttons...

I made a matching set, I can't wait to wear them tomorrow to a crafter gathering!!

Day 15

Day 15 is Sea Creatures...

My supplies are fleece, batting, and scissors...

Cut out a rectangle, then cut three slits (to make 4 tentacles)...

I cut a second one, with longer tentacles and less body (helps form the squid)...

Match up the tentacles and tie 2 together...

I made a squid (can hang in an infant car seat) and an octopus.  Toys can be tied to the tentacles, to keep toys from hitting the floor.
